Every December, a few thousand affiliates, media buyers, networks and traffic sources land in Bangkok for two days of Affiliate World Asia. If it’s your first time, here’s what actually matters, plus Trip.com codes to make the trip cheaper.
The short version
- Two days in early December, in central Bangkok. Check the official Affiliate World site for this year’s dates and venue.
- December is peak season in Thailand, so book flights first and hotels right after.
- New to Trip.com? There’s a first-flight code and a 10% new-user hotel coupon (details below).
- Fill in the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online in the 3 days before you land.
Flights
Fares into Bangkok climb as December gets closer. Most long-haul flights use Suvarnabhumi (BKK). Budget airlines from around Asia often use Don Mueang (DMK), which is further out. If the price is close, take BKK.
Where to stay
- Near the venue if you want to drop back to your room between meetings. You’ll pay more, but you won’t sit in traffic.
- Sukhumvit (Asok, Nana) if you want cheaper rooms and the evening side events. A few BTS stops away.
Either way, stay near a BTS Skytrain station. Bangkok traffic at 6 pm will eat your evening.
Airport to the city
From BKK, the Airport Rail Link runs to Phaya Thai, where you change to the BTS. It’s cheap and skips the traffic. Late arrival or heavy bags? Use Grab or the official taxi queue, never the drivers who come up to you in arrivals.
Before you fly
- TDAC: fill it in on the official government site. It’s free, so ignore sites that charge for it.
- Visa: many passports get visa-free entry, but the rules change. Check the Thai embassy page for your passport.
- Data: set up an eSIM before you leave. Saily lists code Indoleads for 5% off its data plans (get Saily).
Get more out of AW
- Book meetings 2–3 weeks before. Calendars fill up fast.
- Walk the expo floor on the first morning, while people still have energy.
- Go to the side events. A lot of the real deals happen over dinner.
- Write notes after each meeting. By meeting 30, you won’t remember who offered what.
